01Choose the right evidence range
Filter by device/camera and dates, then choose rule events, historical images or both. Without a query, the default view shows rule events; text or object queries default to both unless you explicitly select a source.
Dates use your account’s display timezone. A different device timezone is shown separately. Duplicate event/keyframe evidence is consolidated with the rule event preferred.
02Search labels or describe an image
Try suitcase, a person in a black shirt, or man with black shirt. Label/name matching uses stored metadata. When semantic search is ready, text and indexed images are compared by visual-text similarity.
Semantic matching can find a retained, indexed image without a corresponding YOLO label. Results are approximate: a similarity score is not a probability, identity match or proof that every word is present.
03Understand indexing and missing results
Saved historical keyframes are selected and deduplicated, not every frame of continuous video. Current semantic indexing and text matching run on the server; live object/PPE analysis runs on the assigned processor.
Check the indexing status if results are missing. When semantic search is unavailable, label/name search still works, but descriptive queries are limited. Try shorter wording and check the source, date and camera filters.
04Re-analyze retained history deliberately
Administrators can open an edited rule and choose to check historical images, then review the job under Events → Historical analysis. It runs on the assigned processor at low priority using images still retained on the server.
This can add missing object tags without overwriting original evidence. It does not send old alerts or create real-time events. Single snapshots cannot prove crossing, sustained presence or multi-frame PPE conditions; these show insufficient temporal evidence.
Common questions
Can I search for something I did not select in YOLO?
Semantic search may find it in indexed retained images. To add exact object tags, use explicit historical re-analysis. Neither can search missing images.
Will changing the query modify my rules?
No. Search only filters results. Changing a rule also does not automatically replay the archive.
